THINKING ABOUT NET ZERO ENERGY COSTS?

Thinking about “Net Zero” energy costs? Consider adding a battery backup to your solar energy system!

Solar energy is on the rise, with Florida looking to be the largest producer of solar energy in 2021 according to the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. Cost conscious customers are looking for ways to save on their energy bills. The hardest part seems to be managing power when the sun goes down.
But that may not be an issue for much longer…..
Our owner, Lawrence, went to visit a client in The Villages, that wanted a battery backup system put in place to coincide with their current solar energy system. The client already has 30 solar panels, but still uses power at night. He wanted to find a way to store a portion of the energy collected in the day to use at night. This is where ProChoice Solar and Construction steps in.
Companies such as Tesla make a plug and play solar battery system. These batteries have 2 huge benefits:

They only use 10% of your solar energy to charge up

A 2 battery system by itself can power your home for up to 10 days

With this, you can use solar in the daytime, use the battery backup at night, and end up with net- zero energy costs! And with the solar tax benefits in place for another 2 years, there’s no time like the present to switch to solar.

Speaking of tax benefits…..

The current federal solar tax benefit is 22%, and next year it drops down to 18%. That’s almost $1,000 lost if you wait until next year. Don’t lose out on that extra money.

In Other Solar News:

Florida has installed more solar in the first quarter of 2020 than any state, deploying over 596 MW (Mega Watts) of solar energy, far ahead of California (359 MW).
Recently, the “Moving Forward Act” passed in the US House of Representatives providing a $1.5 trillion plan to rebuild American infrastructure—not only our roads, bridges, and transit systems, but also our schools, housing, broadband access, and so much more. It will support American manufacturing and ingenuity along with creating millions of jobs that cannot be exported, all while putting our country on a path toward zero carbon emissions, making communities and roads safer, and addressing long-standing disparities. It is about investing in an infrastructure that is smarter, safer, and made to last.
If passed in the Senate and signed by the White House, it will drastically improve the solar landscape also. Many solar and storage provisions are included in the bill, including:

5-year extension of Sec. 48 and 25D of the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) at 30% through 2025, followed by a two-year phase-down (2026 at 26% and 2027 at 22%)

Proposals to incentivize investment in clean energy for low income and under served communities

Grant program for solar installation in low-income and under served communities

Funds for renewable energy installation in community institutions, such as schools

Improvements to public lands renewable energy development programs
